Job Description

Hollins University, a private, liberal arts university in Roanoke, Virginia that is recognized as one of the oldest institutions ofhigher education for women in the United States, invites applications from qualified candidates for the position of Director of GlobalLearning. About the Role As one of the pioneers in U.S. higher education to offer its students overseas studyopportunities, Hollins University has a long and rich history of global education beginning with the creation of Hollins Abroad Paris in the1950s and Hollins Abroad London in the 1970s. This pioneering spirit laid the foundation for the future expansion of exceptionalstudy-abroad opportunities ensuring global learning remains a signature of the university's academic experience. This continued commitmentis evident in the comprehensive academic renewal plan currently being implemented that centers experiential learning as a core pillar forstudent learning and success. Building upon this strong foundation, the Director of Global Learning provides overall leadership forand operational management of the Global Learning Hub and its services. In an environment where the university serves an increasinglydiverse population of students, including high percentages of first-generation college students, Pell-eligible students, and students ofcolor, the Director is expected to serve as an advocate for education abroad across campus and to identify ways to engage more students inglobal learning. Under the leadership of the Associate Provost for Curriculum and Faculty Engagement and working in close collaboration withcampus partners, the Director of Global Learning joins Hollins at an important juncture for integrating education abroad into the academicrenewal plan and strategically leveraging available resources to expand global partnerships to maximize opportunities for students.
Specific responsibilities include the following:
Lead the Global Learning Hub and campus partners in strategic planning andpolicy development for education abroad Lead and manage education abroad program development and evaluation Responsible for crisis and risk management for the education abroad programs Serve as the financial/budget manager for the GlobalLearning Hub, including scholarship distribution and contract negotiation in partnership with the Financial Aid and Business offices Oversee and manage program provider partnerships to support broad student participation from across the curriculum and compliance withinstitutional academic regulations Oversee and manage cross-campus collaboration with faculty, academic units, and otheradministrative offices on education abroad initiatives and ensure alignment with best practices in education abroad Partner withthe division of Student Success, Well-Being and Belonging to promote and support student engagement, student achievement, and educationalequity Manage marketing and outreach efforts, including social media, to broadly promote education abroad Teach UNI101 and UNI 102, the pre-and post-courses required of all education abroad participants Manage organizational structure and staffof the Global Learning Hub Position Qualifications Successful applicants will have the following qualificationsand experience: Bachelor's degree in relevant field Five (5) years of progressive experience in education abroadadvising and program development Proven experience in cross-campus collaboration Capacity to develop and execute astrategic vision for global learning Demonstrated cultural humility and ability to support diverse student populations andunderstand and identify with the undergraduate student population Familiarity with the Standards of Good Practice for EducationAbroad Knowledge of issues related to education abroad including international risk management practices; health, safety, andduty of care obligations; and cultural adjustment Familiarity with Terra Dotta or other study abroad application managementsoftware Preferred candidates will have the following: Master's degree in relevant field Professionalcertification or training in education abroad International work, internship, or student experience ApplicationProcess Qualified candidates should submit a cover letter and resume to hollinshr@hollins.edu .
