The Michael E. Stephens College of Business (SCOB) at the University of Montevallo seeks an Instructor to teach undergraduate courses in Economics, beginning August 2027. The SCOB Department of Business supports undergraduate programs in General Business, Data Analytics, Management, Marketing, Finance, and Accounting as well as a Master's in Business Administration. These programs are fully accredited through the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB). The average class size in SCOB is 21 students, underscoring our commitment to individualized learning. Instructors may teach up to 15 credit hours per semester.
Our Campus:
The University of Montevallo is Alabama's only public liberal arts institution. Located approximately 30 miles South of Birmingham, Alabama, the University of Montevallo (UM) serves approximately 2,900 students annually. Montevallo offers undergraduate and graduate programs across the Colleges of Arts & Sciences, Business, Education and Human Development, Fine Arts, and Health Professions. SCOB currently supports approximately 385 undergraduate and 35 graduate students. Across the five Colleges, UM offers bachelors, masters, educational specialist, and doctoral degrees.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
Masters degree in Economics or a closely related field from an AACSB-accredited institution; strong communication skills; a substantive commitment to excellence in teaching undergraduate economics courses with students from a wide array of academic and career backgrounds.
Desired Qualifications:
Documented experience and excellence in teaching; experience or research activity qualifying the candidate for one of the four categories needed for AACSB qualification.
