Structure:
One dedicated lead educator will work in partnership with other teachers and tutors.
Compensation:
Highly competitive. Commensurate with experience incl. a full benefit package. Four months of the year will likely be spent embedded at a microschool site in Los Angeles where the educator will lead and guide the individualized skills-based learning for one child, while collaboration with other teachers will occur for content-focused project-based learning. For the other months of the academic year, the traveling educator will lead and guide the individualized stills-based learning for both children, including morning skills learning sessions followed by afternoon place-based content lessons and project-based learning. Overview A globally mobile family is seeking an exceptional full-time private educator to deliver individualized homeschooling instruction for their 10-year-old twins. A scope and sequence of skills along with various summative assessment protocols will be provided while individual curricular choices and lesson planning decisions will be made by the traveling teacher. The educator will take full ownership of the children's academic journeys, while collaborating closely with others on the team to ensure alignment, consistency, and shared experiences occur with both children where appropriate. The Role The educator will:
follow an individualized skills-based curriculum to teach reading, writing, math, and critical thinking to both children. design and implement a bespoke, place-based content curriculum (including literature, history, science, art, music, philosophy, and other topics) tailored to each child's learning style, strengths, and developmental needs. partner with other educators to ensure cohesion across subjects, schedules, and shared learning opportunities Key Responsibilities Collaborate with other educators to implement a fully customized academic program Deliver instruction across core subjects (ELA math, science, history, art, and music) Integrate travel-based, experiential, and interdisciplinary learning Apply differentiated teaching strategies where appropriate Assess progress and keep detailed records, provide thoughtful, structured feedback Coordinate regularly with others to align schedules, goals, and shared experiences Maintain academic consistency and structure across a highly mobile lifestyle Educators will: travel with the family (summer and winter breaks TBD based on mutual alignment) be provided accommodations (live-in or nearby hotel or short-term rental) while traveling outside of Los Angeles work primarily weekdays (weekends generally off) for approximately 40 hours per week Qualifications bachelor's degree required; advanced degree preferred strong teaching background (elementary/middle school, private tutoring, or homeschool environments) absolute core requirement: at least 5 years of experience (combined TEACHING and/or TUTORING, with at least some classroom teaching) of a combination of ELA (reading and writing) and MATH to students ages 10 - 14 experience with individualized instruction and curriculum design preferred eligibility to work in the U.S.; ability to work in Europe preferred fluency in English required; fluency in a second language (or languages) is of interest exceptional professionalism, discretion, flexibility, and adaptability Ideal Candidate Profile top-tier educator (traditional or non-traditional background) comfortable taking ownership of a student's academic path while collaborating with co-educators, including experience leading, coaching, and evaluating other educators broadly knowledgeable, creative, intellectually curious, and globally minded patient, kind, and emotionally attuned energized by travel and non-traditional learning environments collaborative, but confident working independently physically and intellectually dynamic and enthusiastic able to and/or interested in teaching anything beyond core subjects athletics (specific sports) art (specific skills) music (specific instruments) foreign languages (any) study of or training in philosophy or spirituality (e.g. Vedanta, Jesuit, Jewish/Kaballah, Daoist) We are interested in the philosophical angle and the mindset of debate and logic, rather than the religious/dogmatic part of the candidate's study or training.
