Job Description

JUNIOR HIGH & HIGH SCHOOL TEACHER
Brief description The position of junior high & high school teacher consists of instructing students in the classroom on subjects at the secondary level, such as English, mathematics, science, Bible, or social studies. Tasks
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with state education guidelines;
  • Understanding and keeping up to date with Victory Village Christian Academy education guidelines;
  • Communicating with students/administration regarding academic progress, expectations, deadlines, and requirements;
  • Establishing, communicating, and maintaining classroom rules and routine;
  • Adapting teaching methods and curriculums to meet students with learning obstacles and learning objectives to provide students with the proper tools for success in the classroom
  • Assign and grade class work and homework;
  • Enforce all administration policies and rules governing students, regardless of personal opinion as discussed with administration and in accordance with the philosophy and principles of Victory Village Christian Academy;
  • Instruct through lectures, discussions, and demonstrations in one or more subjects, such as English, mathematics, science, Bible, or social studies;
  • Maintain accurate and complete student records as required by laws, district policies, and administrative regulations;
  • Observe and evaluate students' performance, behavior, social development, and physical health as pertains to the teachers specific classes/classroom;
  • Plan and conduct activities for a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and work time that provides students with opportunities to observe, question, and investigate;

  • Prepare, administer, and grade tests and assignments to evaluate students' progress;
  • Manage and maintain an environment conducive to learning;
  • Maintain a level of fairness and equal learning opportunity for all students;
  • Obtain authorization for any policy or structural changes to the classroom from the administration before said changes are made;
  • Support the Christian principles of Victory Village Christian Academy and submit to its leadership as keeping with the word of God. Qualifications and requirements
  • A bachelor's degree or equivalent;
  • Ability to teach others how to do something, and to select and use training/instructional methods and procedures appropriate for the situation when learning or teaching new things;
  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying;
  • Ability to identify complex problems, evaluate options, and implement solutions;
  • Ability to effectively negotiate, handle oneself professionally and maturely, and appeal appropriately to authority when in disagreement;
  • A love for people, especially young people, and a passion/commitment to the ministry of Victory Village Christian Academy;
  • A good work ethic and dependable character;
  • A calm, patient, flexible personality;
  • A strong walk/relationship with Jesus Christ and actively attending a local assembly or being in fellowship outside of the workplace in accordance with Hebrews 10:24-25 and Matthew 18:20. Competencies (in order of importance)

  • Followership --- Job requires the ability to submit to leadership decisions as are keeping with principles of Victory Village Christian Academy and the word of God (Hebrews 10:19-25).
  • Stress Tolerance — Job requires accepting criticism and dealing calmly and effectively with high stress situations (Proverbs 27:17). Lines of communication
  • The junior high & high school teaching position reports directly to the Assistant Principal (AP). All schedule, classroom, student, curriculum, and discipline needs are to be brought directly to the AP who will then oversee all needs and direct to a higher authority if out of their realm of expertise and purview. Working conditions
  • The junior high & high school teaching position is a full time salaried position.
  • Work days are Monday thru Friday during the Months of August-June. Additional days or Holidays will be clearly scheduled out and given in advance.
  • All teachers are required to attend all scheduled personnel trainings and in-service days.
  • All teachers are expected to arrive well in advance of their students who arrive at 9:00am. Adjustments and exceptions to this expectation should be approved by the Assistant Principal.
  • All full time teachers are expected to stay until completion of the school day when students leave at 4:00pm.
