Bonnie Cone Leadership Academy is now accepting applications for a Latin Teacher for the 2026-2027 academic year . As a school grounded in classical education, we seek candidates who are enthusiastic about classical teaching methods, particularly the trivium approach (grammar, logic, rhetoric). Our classical model emphasizes a rich knowledge base, critical thinking, and the ability to express and apply ideas effectively . Candidates must be willing to undergo a background check. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: The Latin Teacher is a passionate educator dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for the Latin language and its cultural heritage among students. This position involves designing and implementing engaging curriculum that enhances students' language skills, critical thinking, and understanding of classical texts. The Latin Teacher plays a key role in promoting literacy and analytical skills through the study of Latin, as well as encouraging an appreciation for the influence of Latin on modern languages and cultures. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Implement engaging lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and address the learning needs of students at various proficiency levels. Deliver daily lessons in Latin, focusing on vocabulary, grammar, reading, writing, and translation skills, while incorporating cultural elements related to ancient Rome and the influence of Latin on modern languages. Administer assessments to evaluate student understanding and progress, providing timely feedback to help students improve. Maintain a positive and respectful classroom environment, promoting student engagement and encouraging participation in discussions and activities. Adapt instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, providing additional support or enrichment opportunities as needed. Grade assignments, quizzes, and exams, and maintain accurate records of student progress and performance. Communicate regularly with students and parents regarding academic progress, upcoming assignments, and any concerns or issues that may arise. Work collaboratively with colleagues in the foreign language department and other subject areas to create interdisciplinary learning experiences. Participate in professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in language instruction and enhance teaching skills. Organize and participate in activities or events that promote the study of Latin and classical cultures, such as Latin Club meetings, competitions, or cultural celebrations. Provide academic and emotional support to students, helping them navigate challenges related to language learning and fostering a love for Latin. Other duties as assigned.
