Department Lower School Status Full-Time Time Period 40 hours/10 months Available Immediately Description Ben Lippen School is seeking a qualified Orton-Gillingham trained teacher to join The Ridge, our program for students with dyslexia. Responsibilities Plan and implement individual or small group Orton-Gillingham lessons based on the scope and sequence provided. Collaborate with classroom teachers, families, and administrators. Plan and use appropriate instructional and learning strategies, activities, materials, and equipment that reflect an understanding of the learning styles and needs of students assigned. Maintain and submit accurate and up-to-date progress monitoring records. Provide small group instruction based upon a student's specific needs as documented by an educational evaluation or classroom progress. Use formative and summative assessments and document student progress and achievement; assesses and analyzes student strengths and needs; designs and implements appropriate instruction to facilitate learning and growth. Stay abreast of current research by attending professional development related to dyslexia and other learning differences. Work with administration and the director of the Individual Learning Center to identify resources for students. Coach teachers on strategies and accommodations to assist students with dyslexia in the classroom. Establish and maintain communication with parents about their child's academic progress and needs. Proficient in the understanding of children with dyslexia. Highly effective verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated creativity and flexibility in planning and delivery of instruction. Proficiency in computer and technology applications necessary for the teaching profession. Must have strong teamwork and collaboration skills. Display strong work ethic, be self-motivated, and have effective organization and time management skills. Evidence of a mature personal Christian faith consistent with the Ben Lippen School Statement of Faith. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's degree preferred. Trained and certified Orton-Gillingham instructor- associate level or in-progress to obtain required. Evidence of at least three (3) years of exemplary teaching experience and support for children with learning differences.
