Long-Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher Needed
Location:
Champlain Valley Union High School
This position will remain open until filled. However, applications received within the first seven days of posting will receive priority consideration. Internal candidates will also be prioritized over external applicants during this initial seven-day window.
Champlain Valley Union High School (CVU) seeks a qualified educator for a Long-Term Substitute Social Studies Teacher position. The position begins September 2026 and runs through January 15, 2027.
Primary Responsibilities
Teach 9th-12th grade social studies coursework with a primary focus on 19th- to 21st-century US and World History.
Cover one section of an elective civics course.
Teach four sections of 10th-grade Humanities in a co-teaching model alongside an English teacher.
Utilize standards-based instruction and assessment practices.
Collaborate using an interdisciplinary, team-teaching approach.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess
Valid Vermont teaching licensure with a secondary Social Studies endorsement (only certified teachers will be considered).
Experience with interdisciplinary team-teaching models.
Demonstrated experience using standards-based instruction and assessment strategies.
