Job Description

The City of Chandler Community Services Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Librarian at the Sunset Library. The position is scheduled for 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with one evening shift per week and one weekend shift per month. This opportunity is only open to: 1) current regular City of Chandler employees, 2) those participating in a city approved internship or apprenticeship program, and 3) temporary employees who are paid through the city payroll system. Current City of Chandler employees may only hold one position and are not eligible for additional part-time or secondary positions within the City of Chandler. Our libraries continuously reflect on patrons' current and emerging needs and choose to advance literacy and champion inclusive learning experiences for all people by fostering accessibility and embracing new technology. Who we are looking for Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, teamwork, and collaboration. We are seeking an individual to coordinate and oversee assigned library services and programs to ensure high-quality service to library patrons. This position will serve as the Youth Services Librarian and will supervise a team of Library Specialist programmers. To view the complete job description, please click here. Minimum qualifications
  • A Bachelor's Degree in Library Science or related field; and
  • 3 years of paraprofessional library experience, including 1 year of previous supervisory experience; and
  • Arizona State Teaching Certification and Arizona State School Library Endorsement required depending on assignment; and
  • A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work. Desired qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Library Science
  • Experience working in early literacy, children's programming, and/or teen programming within a public library setting This is a regular full-time position, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
A register of qualified candidates will be active for 4 months should another position become available. The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment driving record check as a condition of employment. An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.
