Part Time Library Assistant 181 North 9th Street, Show Low, AZ 85901 $15.33 an hour - Part-time $15.33 an hour - Part-time Description Become a key part of a team that helps our community learn, explore, and grow. In this role, you'll provide outstanding service at the customer service desk, assist patrons with research and library materials, and help maintain a clean, inviting space. If you enjoy supporting others and contributing to a welcoming environment, we'd love to have you on board. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Works at the customer service desk. Provides extraordinary customer service to the public. Delivers research assistance and readers' advisory assistance to the public. Registers new cardholders; Assists cardholder with borrowing items, paying fees, reserving materials, and updating their library account. Discharges library materials; Shelves materials maintaining neatness and orderliness; Maintains the neat and orderly appearance of the library. Processes reports; Maintains necessary operating records; Records statistical information. Communicates and enforces policies and procedures to the public; Responds to inquiries and resolves issues and concerns; Communicates issues and concerns to supervisor. Performs duties in strict compliance with appropriate safety and security standards; Ensures applicable safety and health rules and regulations are followed. Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times and streamline work processes; Participates in the accomplishment of organizational, departmental and workgroup goals and objectives. Performs other duties of a similar nature or level as assigned.
Desired Minimum Qualifications Education and Experience:
High School diploma or GED equivalent; and One (1) year of library or office experience; or Any equivalent combination of education and experience.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of libraries, office practices, cash handling, recordkeeping methods and procedures, the alphabet, and correct spelling of the English Language. Knowledge of technology. People skills - ability to work effectively with others and enjoy it. Customer service skills. Communication skills, both written and oral. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Part time employees will accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every (30) thirty hours worked. No other benefits will be offered to part time employees
