This position is advertised from the minimum to the maximum hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
NATURE OF WORK
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty in the supervision of the Circulation Division of the Library District, assisting the Circulation Supervisor, performs related work as required or assigned. (Illustrative Only) Responsible for the supervision of the Circulation Division of the Library District including staffing, daily operations, maintenance of the collection and Branch Circulation support, in the absence of the Circulation Supervisor; assists with Circulation budget, debt collection services, and drafting the Circulation policies and procedures; assists with training, scheduling, and supervising, the Circulation Library Assistant I's; runs reports and works with automated systems; communicates with patrons, interprets complex questions related to their circulation needs, and resolves issues; performs circulation and registration duties; collects statistics; maintains automated and manual files; attends meetings and workshops; may work with sales representatives and vendors; may assist with library programs and activities; may promote public library services to the local community; may make presentations at Library District meetings and workshops; may be assigned to work in other library branches and divisions; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned. Associate's degree in library science or closely related field; AND two (2) years of library experience in Circulation; AND one (1) year of supervisory experience; OR any combination of education, training, or experience which demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of the position.;requires successful completion of a background check.
Knowledge of:
County policies and procedures; circulation procedures; techniques of library operations; principles and practices of supervision; computers and computer software including word processing and data entry.
Skill in:
Training, supervising, and evaluating work of others; maintaining records and preparing reports; providing effective customer-oriented service; handling irate patrons and tense situations; establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with employees, other agencies and the public; following written and verbal instructions; communicating effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to:
research and write detailed reports; read, write, and synthesize data and reports; use modern office equipment and computers; communicate effectively verbally and written; planning and organizing work; assigning and leading the work of others; lift up to 40 lbs.
