Posting Detail Information Position Number HR0601 Position Title Specialist, Library Lending Services Job Type Staff FT/PT Part-Time Employee Class Description C3-Staff PT (ed. support) General Position Description Provides direct library support to students, staff and faculty in library lending services that support academic success and aligns with the College's mission. Responsible for providing general library information and services to students, faculty, and staff in a welcoming, student-centered environment. Ensures efficient access to library materials, course reserves, technology and study spaces for students and performs tasks using an integrated library system.

Circulates materials by charging and discharging items, using an integrated library system. 2. Receives, processes, and maintains the library collection. Processes materials which may require lifting, carrying, and pulling/pushing book carts. 3. Assists in the processing of intercampus loans and interlibrary loans. 4. Assists in the processing and maintenance of reserve materials for faculty and students. 5. Assists in the maintenance and inventory of the library collection. 6. Provides front-line support to students with questions related to the campus store and course material accessibility, including responding to frequently asked questions. Assist students in locating and accessing course materials on reserve, ensuring timely and equitable access to required academic resources. 7. Provides first-level technology assistance to students using library computers and other public technologies; troubleshoots basic issues and refers more complex technical concerns to appropriate campus technology support services. 8. Assists students with library equipment and locating resources in the library and providing general support in any of the library spaces. 9. Assists with the preparation of daily and weekly reports related to missing books, holds, and other materials. Maintain accurate inventory records for general and reserve collections, as well as technology assets. Perform basic data entry and reporting to support student tracking, collection maintenance, and workflow monitoring. 10. Keeps supervisor informed of needs, concerns, and issues related to policies, services, staff, and resources. 11. Performs other related duties as assigned. Knowledge of circulation procedures, automated library circulation systems, reserve material preparation and handling, and the fundamentals of information service in a library. 2. Ability to use technology and multiple software programs including Microsoft Office. 3. Ability to provide strong customer service, make appropriate referrals, and effectively interpret and explain Learning Resources Center/library policies/procedures to faculty, staff, students, and community. 4. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 5. Ability to access, input, and retrieve computer-based data/information. 6. Ability to work with minimal supervision both independently and as a member of a team. Working Conditions General Working Conditions This job primarily operates in a professional office environment. The employee will routinely operate standard office equipment including but not limited to computers, keyboards, mouse, phones, photocopiers, printers, scanners, filing cabinets and fax machines. While performing the duties of this job, the noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. Typical physical competencies include but are not limited to frequently remaining stationary, moving, reaching, positioning self and occasionally ascending/descending, lifting/moving objects weighing between 5-15 pounds. This job also entails frequently communicating, discerning and exchanging information, detecting and perceiving objects up close, at a distance, and the ability to adjust focus. Cognitive abilities include but are not limited to frequently using discretion, judgment, reasoning, memory, learning, maintaining confidentiality, comprehension, problem solving, and decision-making.
