Position Summary Reporting to the Director of Library Services, the Access Services Specialist provides front-line, circulation desk coverage during assigned hours. The position supports students, faculty, staff, and other library users and contributes to the orderly operation of McKenna Library and access to its services and resources. Primary Responsibilities Serve students, faculty, staff, and other library users across multiple interconnected library systems, including inventory and circulation functions in Folio, interlibrary loan in Tipasa, delivery services through InfoExpress, and library discovery through FiNDit. Support literature and source needs at the service desk. Maintain the reserve shelf and ensure reserve materials are available according to faculty course needs and assignments. Complete check-ins, check-outs, renewals, and holds. Maintain orderly shelves and library collections. Participate in cross-training and stay current with library procedures, systems, and services. Support continuity across shifts by communicating relevant service, system, and workflow information to the staff member covering the next shift. Maintain library website content and updates, as assigned. Serve as the designated adult staff member responsible for Library operations during assigned hours when the Director and Circulation Services Lead are not present. Highlight the Director s availability and contact information for additional assistance, presentations, and instruction. Perform other duties related to library operations assigned by the Director. Qualifications Bachelor s degree required. Experience in library services, including circulation or related functions, preferred. Familiarity with scholarly information sources and commonly used citation styles to support undergraduate students at the service desk, preferred. Ability to provide courteous, tactful, and nonjudgmental service with strong communication skills. Ability to learn and adapt to library systems, databases, and technology. Ability to exercise independent judgment, work independently, and stay organized.
