JOB SUMMARY
Performs all duties related to the organization and shelving of library materials including books, magazines, newspapers, videos and CDs. Will assist in completing the pull list of requested items. Represents the library in a pleasant and helpful manner in all aspects of work.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under the supervision of the Staff, primarily Department Heads.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED
May provide some direction to volunteer shelving staff.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Shelves all books and materials in their proper order. 2. Maintains the shelves in a neat and orderly manner. 3. Retrieves, prepares, and displays newspapers in a timely manner for the patrons and the staff. 4. Shifts collections as needed. 6. Maintains the New Fiction and New Non-Fiction display areas. 7. Shelf read book stacks to preserve Dewey Decimal order. 8. Provides daily straightening and monthly dusting of all collections. 9. Brings mail and deliveries to Technical Services. 10. Assists circulation staff in checking in the Book Drops. 11. Aids in finding books on daily pull list. 12. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High school diploma or high school student in good academic standing. 2. Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal System is preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND DESIRABLE ABILITIES
1. Ability to express oneself clearly, concisely and pleasantly in the English language. 2. Ability to handle minute detail. 3. Ability to learn new skills quickly. 4. Ability to handle situations with tact, courtesy, initiative, resourcefulness, good judgment, and punctuality. 5. Ability to work independently in a multi-tasked environment. Full/Part Time Part Time Education NA Salary Range $15.00 - $18.00 / hour Salary Notes Up to and including 15 hours per week Closing Date 9/4/26 for priority, open until filled
