Nature of Work This part-time position may be the first point of contact for library customers and is responsible for performing routine office support functions that help ensure departmental services are provided in a friendly, effective and efficient manner. This position will support the Rochester Reading Champions (RRC) program. Work Schedule This is a year-round position that will be available for 2 years, with the potential for extension based on funding. Hours may vary from week to week depending on operational needs, with an average of up to 5 hours per week. Pay Rate The 2026 wage is $14.71 to $17.86, depending on qualifications. The work below is representative of the scope of work performed within this job classification. Individual job duties will vary based on work assignment. Perform general office duties such as filing, copying, preparing mail, etc. Perform general receptionist duties by assisting customers and answering emails. Update various departmental information. Assist with scheduling program activities, events, and spaces Assist with processing new hire paperwork and time - entry for seasonal employees or volunteers. Perform other duties as assigned or necessary.
Applicants must:
Possess a High School diploma or the equivalent (GED) Be at least 18 years old Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Word and Excel, PowerPoint, and Google products. Have the ability to deal professionally and tactfully with others. Maintain strict confidentiality. Comfortable working in an environment where distractions occur flexibility is necessary. Desirable Qualifications Experience working in a similar environment Experience performing clerical duties Knowledge of literacy - related terminology Work independently without direct supervision.
