Job Description

The Parkland Community Library is currently accepting applications for a part-time Technology Support Specialist. At $15/hour, averaging 28.5 hours per week, with a schedule of: Mondays 9am to 1pm Tuesdays 1pm to 9pm Wednesdays 9am to 1pm Thursdays 9am to 1pm Alternating Fridays (9am to 6pm) and Saturdays (9am to 5pm).
Responsibilities Include:
Overall monitoring of public computer use in the Tech Center and being willing to enforce posted policies when needed Using EnvisionWare software to complete Tech Center functions such as releasing print jobs, extending computer use time, printing guest passes Assisting patrons with the use of the internet and basic online functions Providing phone and in-person assistance to patrons with technology problems. Setting up, configuring, and maintaining computers, printers, peripherals, and other library equipment Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues for library staff and patrons Contributing to library-wide initiatives, such as evaluating and implementing new technologies Creating and maintaining documents such as troubleshooting guides and user support materials for staff Tracking usage statistics and inventory Interacting with outside vendors to assist in resolving technical issues Managing software licenses on computer lab devices Managing reservations for the IdeaLab Station and IdeaLab Technology Assisting patrons with the use of IdeaLab Station and IdeaLab Technology Process interlibrary loan items with accuracy and attention to detail Additional tasks as assigned Satisfactory completion of criminal history, child abuse screening, and FBI fingerprinting prior to employment and every five years thereafter are required.
