8th Grade Math Teacher Easton, Redding, Region 9 Redding, CT Job Details Full-time 1 day ago Qualifications Engaging lesson design (student motivation techniques) Full Job Description Position Overview The successful candidate will create a student-centered mathematics classroom that promotes deep conceptual understanding, problem-solving, mathematical discourse, and student ownership of learning. The teacher will provide rigorous, standards-aligned instruction while fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. This candidate believes all students can learn mathematics at high levels and is passionate about creating engaging learning experiences that promote curiosity, critical thinking, and perseverance. Desired Qualifications Certification appropriate for teaching middle school mathematics and/or
Algebra I:
Mathematics, 7-12 (endorsement code 029) or Mathematics, Middle School (endorsement code 229) Strong content knowledge in middle school mathematics and Algebra Experience using technology to enhance instruction, including Desmos and Maneuvering the Middle. Understanding of Building Thinking Classrooms practices and the use of rich mathematical tasks Commitment to equitable instructional practices and access for all learners Experience differentiating instruction to meet diverse student needs Strong classroom management skills and understanding of Restorative Practices, including the ability to foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that supports student growth and collaboration Ability to engage learners through mathematical discourse, productive struggle, and collaborative problem-solving Knowledge of formative assessment practices and responsive instruction, including the ability to assess student learning and provide timely, meaningful feedback to students and families Preferred Knowledge and Skills Experience helping students articulate what they are learning, why they are learning it, and how they know they are successful through the use of Learning Intentions and Success Criteria Commitment to fostering student self-assessment, reflection, and ownership of learning Experience using student data to inform instructional decisions Experience collaborating within Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) and building productive partnerships with colleagues, specialists, school leaders, and families to analyze student learning, share effective instructional practices, and support student growth and achievement.
