OVERVIEW
The Instructional Intervention Coach works one-on-one and in small groups with students who are failing or at risk of failing in reading, language arts, and math, providing intervention support. Beyond direct student support, the role serves as a building-level instructional leader, coaching colleagues on proven literacy and math strategies, analyzing school data to guide instructional decisions, and partnering with the principal on materials, professional development, and family engagement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Works directly with students that are failing or at risk of failing providing intervention support Demonstrates and models exemplary classroom literacy and math practices and knowledge of balanced literacy and math and essential elements of reading and math. Provides leadership for Reading/Language Arts & Math literacy across the school community. Helps strengthen family and school ties by engaging families in reading and math literacy. Participates in monthly meetings with the building principal. Work with the Principal to place orders for supplies and materials to support instruction, professional development and parent involvement. Helps to monitor inventory. Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Five (5) years of effective classroom teaching experience • Early Literacy Endorsement Above average ability to communicate and work well with others • Proven leadership ability
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
Thorough and complete knowledge of Indiana Academic Math and Reading/Language Arts Standards An explicit understanding of effective Math and Reading/Language Arts curriculum and instructional practices Knowledge of the collaborative instructional model
