Aug 17, 2026 Job Description Lyndon Institute is a comprehensive, independent high school providing thoughtful and rigorous preparation for students of the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont and beyond to reach their intellectual, creative, and physical potential. Lyndon Institute is anticipating a vacancy for a full time Math Teacher for the 2026/2027 school year. This position will report directly to the Math Department Chair and the Dean of Academics. The start date for this position would be August 17, 2026. It is the responsibility of the Math Teacher to:
  • Exhibit enthusiasm for the topics they teach
  • Provide a stimulating learning environment for every student
  • Collaborate as a team player with teaching colleagues and administrators
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, colleagues, and other stakeholders
  • Be an engaged member of the Lyndon Institute community, showing support and involvement in student activities outside of the classroom, including LI's residential program
  • Fully utilize the LMS to maintain academic records and communicate with families in a timely manner
  • Serve in additional roles as needed to support the entire LI community
  • Model behavior that reflects Lyndon Institute's mission statement
Requirements:
  • Qualified applicants should possess a BS or master's in math or a related field and have multiple years of teaching experience in a high school setting.
  • Expertise in teaching an array of math courses is required, as is a demonstrated commitment to designing and facilitating student-centered lessons that use questions, exploration, and discussion to promote deep mathematical understanding and transferable skills development.
  • A willingness to collaborate and contribute to the broader school community is critical.
  • Background experience in the sciences or STEM is favorable.
  • Experience using a Learning Management System (LMS), such as Blackbaud, is beneficial.
  • While licensure is a strength, it is not required at an independent educational institution.
