The Department of Biological Sciences, in the School of Science and Mathematics, seeks a residential (on campus) adjunct to instruct and support science education coursework. This position will provide instruction, mentoring, and guidance to students preparing for careers in science teaching. The successful candidate will bring strong content knowledge, practical high school teaching experience, and a commitment to student learning and professional development.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach assigned undergraduate courses in science education in accordance with University, School and Department guidelines. Prepare and deliver engaging, well-organized instruction aligned with course and program outcomes. Incorporate appropriate laboratory, inquiry-based, and hands-on learning experiences. Assess student learning and provide timely, constructive feedback. Mentor and support students as they develop their science teaching knowledge and skills. Connect science content and educational theory to authentic high school classroom practice. Maintain accurate course records, grades, and other required documentation. Integrate Biblical concepts and worldview. Adjuncts may be utilized on a temporary, part-time basis to provide instruction during the academic year as instructional needs arise. These temporary adjunct positions are subject to Cedarville University policies, verification of credentials and other information required by law, including the successful completion of a background check. These positions are located in Cedarville, Ohio. Required Qualifications A Master's degree in Science Education; or a Master's degree in a science discipline or related field with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Science Education. Teaching experience at the high school level. Demonstrated knowledge of science content and effective science teaching practices. Strong communication, organization, and interpersonal skills. Commitment to supporting students in a residential academic environment. Committed to biblical integration in and out of the classroom. Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian. Qualified applicant must agree with and be willing to abide by Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant and General Workplace Standards. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching undergraduate science education courses. Experience supervising or mentoring preservice science teachers. Familiarity with state science education standards, teacher licensure requirements, and current science education practices. Experience developing inquiry-based, laboratory, or interdisciplinary science instruction.
