The School of Arts and Humanities at Cedarville University seeks an Assistant Professor of Political Science in the Department of History and Government for Fall 2027. Rank is commensurate with experience and credentials. Eligibility for a tenure-track appointment will be determined based on institutional needs and candidate qualifications at the time of hire. Expertise in American Politics is required, with an ability to teach Public Administration, Public Policy, Constitutional Law, and/or quantitative methods preferred. All candidates will be responsible for a general education course in Government, as well as upper-level offerings within their area of expertise. Candidates will be asked to teach from a distinctively Christian worldview.Essential Position Functions:
Twenty-four semester credit hours of teaching responsibility, or the equivalent, each academic year of two semesters Maintain academic credentials and discipline-specific research/methodology/pedagogy Working knowledge of biblical texts and appropriate discipline-specific integration Academic advising and counsel to students within an academic discipline Committee membership and professional activityNon-Essential Position Functions:
Serve as a club or class advisor. Assist academic leadership as directed. Conduct interviews with the media.Position Requirements:
Terminal degree in relevant field: PhD (ABD candidates will be considered) or JD with relevant career experience Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work as a team member Excellent written and oral communication skills Documented successful teaching and scholarship experience Commitment to biblical integration in and out of the classroom Qualified applicant must be a born-again Christian with a personal commitment to Jesus Christ. Qualified applicant must agree with and be willing to abide by Cedarville University's Doctrinal Statement, Community Covenant, and General Work Place Standards.
