PART TIME ROLE

is right for you! We are looking for Instructors to teach programs in the cities of Orange and Garden Grove for the fall session. You MUST be available on Thursdays FROM 2-5, though availability other days of the week is preferred.

We are:

Professor Egghead Science Academy, a Los Angeles based STEM enrichment program operating throughout California + beyond. We partner with school districts to provide hands-on science, engineering, and robotics programs to kids in grades PK-8. We are completely mobile, which means that we rely on our team of over 100 Professors (our teachers) to visit school sites daily and run engaging programs in the classroom that follow our original curriculum. More on us in a minute. We are searching for folks who: Are high energy, fun, and outgoing Have experience working with groups of up to 20 kids of varying ages Have a reliable form of transportation and are able to maneuver around a 2x3ft rolling bin. Are clear communicators who can commit to at least three months of a part-time schedule. Can pass a background check Do not worry if you are not a teacher, a scientist, or even someone who failed their AP Physics exam in 12th grade: we've got you covered. All of our Professors are paid to be trained on Professor Egghead's curriculum before entering the classroom

Think of it like one of those meal prep kits: we ship you pre-packaged lessons, provide you with instructions on how to run the class, and then leave the cooking teaching to you.

Schedules and Pay:

Since we are an after school enrichment program, almost all of our classes take place Monday-Friday between the hours of 2-5pm. Your exact schedule would be determined based on the needs of the schools that we work with, but on average, our Professors teach between 3-7 hours worth of classes throughout the week. Please do not apply if you are not generally available during this time frame. Lead Professors are paid $75 for roughly 75 minutes of work; we ask that you arrive onsite 15 minutes prior to the start of your class and then teach for one hour, which is our standard class duration. Other roles (such as Substitute Professors or Assistant Professors) may also be available depending on the school district and our general hiring need. We also have Milestone bonuses for Professors that stay with us for 6 months, 1 year, 2 year, etc… but we're getting ahead of ourselves. We take a hands-on approach to all of our lessons, whether it's building volcanoes, greenhouses, and rockets in our science class or functioning machines like cranes and ferris wheels in LEGO Engineering. We tackle real scientific concepts in age-appropriate lessons and make sure that everyone has a blast doing it. Our Professors come from a wide variety of backgrounds but all have one thing in common; a passion to get kids excited about science.
