We are looking for an instructor who enjoys working with children and can do more than simply teach a prepared curriculum. The ideal candidate will be able to develop creative, age-appropriate lesson plans , encourage students to think and express themselves, and serve as a positive mentor in the classroom. Responsibilities Teach Writing and Book Club classes organized by grade level. Develop and prepare your own lesson plans and class materials appropriate for each group's age and ability. Teach writing skills including organization, paragraph and essay development, grammar, vocabulary, creativity, and effective written expression. Lead engaging Book Club classes that strengthen reading comprehension, critical thinking, discussion, vocabulary, and literary analysis . Create a classroom environment where students feel comfortable participating, sharing ideas, and developing confidence. Keep classes organized and maintain records of student work and progress. Monitor each student's strengths and areas that need improvement. Every three months, prepare a student progress showcase demonstrating the growth and accomplishments of each student through writing samples, projects, presentations, portfolios, or other appropriate work. Communicate with TYG Academy regarding student progress, concerns, and instructional needs. Qualifications Previous experience teaching or working with children is required . Comfortable teaching students from 2nd grade through middle school . Strong English writing, grammar, reading comprehension, and communication skills. Ability to independently develop structured and engaging lesson plans. Organized, dependable, and well-prepared. Enthusiastic and energetic in the classroom. Able to adapt instruction to different ages, personalities, and learning levels. Strong classroom management and communication skills. We want an instructor who can build positive relationships with students, recognize their individual strengths, encourage them when they struggle, and motivate them to become stronger readers, writers, and thinkers. Our goal is not simply to complete assignments. We want students to show measurable growth over time , develop confidence in their abilities, and genuinely enjoy participating in their Writing and Book Club classes.
Pay:
$25.00 - $45.00 per hour Expected hours: 1.0 - 6.0 per week
