POSITION SUMMARY

After School Program Staff Members must insure the safety of the students in program activities offered to enrich lives, and promote safe, fun at our After School Program. Plan and implement recreational, activities for participants. Staff members report to the Program Director. Staff must be able to work with fellow recreation leaders to assist in the implementation of recreation activities and perform other related duties as required. Staff are required to pick students up from school and walk them to our facility. Staff must be at least 18 years of age. The Youth Center After School Program is open 2 pm to 6 pm Monday through Friday.

GENERAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

Student Supervision & Safety:

Escort and walk groups of students safely from Lee Elementary and Rossmoor Elementary to Rossmoor Park, maintaining strict adherence to all safety procedures.

Large Group Management:

Collaborate with a team of 2-3 staff members to supervise, account for, and manage large groups of approximately 30+ students during the walking transition.

Program Implementation:

Plan, organize, and actively participate in engaging recreation programs, including arts and crafts, sports, group games, and academic homework help.

Youth Motivation:

Maintain high energy levels throughout shift hours to motivate and encourage maximum child participation in all scheduled activities.

Active Supervision:

Move and position your body efficiently to maintain continuous, watchful supervision of the area, sitting only when strictly required by a specific task.

Professional Communication:

Foster a positive, welcoming attitude with participants, parents, and colleagues while delivering exceptional customer service to the general public.

Operational Adaptability:

Follow written and verbal instructions accurately, with the ability to work independently to supervise students when necessary.

Hazard Reporting:

Immediately report any environmental or landscape hazards, student or parent incidents, or equipment concerns to the on-site supervisor or program director.

Facility & Supply Maintenance:

Organize, manage, and track program supplies, ensuring the activity area is completely tidied up after each program concludes.

Individualized Care:

Stay attentive and accommodating to the individual needs of each student regarding homework support, unique parent requests, and medical requirements.

Required Certifications:

Must possess and maintain current First Aid and CPR certifications.

WORKING CONDITIONS/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Ability to learn software to check in students and operate the snack shack Ability to climb, balance, walk and stand for long periods of time. Ability to work and adapt to outdoor weather conditions including rain. Ability to keep a safe and sanitary work environment.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Must be at least 18 years old Reliable transportation is preferred Knowledge of team building principles. Knowledge of safety precautions. Ability to positively manage program participant behaviors. $16.90 - $17 (depending on experience)
