You'll deliver hands-on coding lessons to students in grades K-8, using Code For Fun's ready-made curriculum - so you can focus on what matters most: making the experience great for kids. This is a part-time, in-person position running Monday through Friday during the fall semester. Locations Programs will be held on-site at partner schools in the following areas: Palo Alto Menlo Park Redwood City You must live in Menlo Park or an adjacent city to be considered for this role. Specific school sites will be assigned based on availability and scheduling. Instructors must be able to travel independently to their assigned site(s). What You'll Do Deliver engaging coding lessons to students ages 5-14 using Code For Fun lesson plans Build positive relationships with students, parents, and school-site staff Arrive on time and fully prepared — every session, every day Communicate promptly and professionally with the Code For Fun team and parents (email responses expected within 24 hours on school days) Track attendance and report any student or site concerns to your supervisor Make class fun — your energy sets the tone
What We're Looking For Required:
Reliable personal transportation, valid California driver's license, and current auto insurance (you will drive to assigned school sites) Familiarity with programming or computer science concepts (any language or platform is fine — we'll train you on our curriculum) Strong communication skills in English, both with kids and with adults Punctual, dependable, and responsive — if something comes up, you let us know promptly Ability to pass a background check and provide proof of a negative TB test
Preferred:
Experience teaching or working with elementary or middle school-aged children Comfort with multiple age groups (K-2, 3-5, 6-8) Public Speaking skills are a plus A genuine enthusiasm for sharing technology with the next generation Schedule Monday through Friday, after school hours (generally 2:30pm-5pm) Fall semester (exact start and end dates provided upon offer) Part-time hours (specific schedule varies by site assignment) Compensation Competitive hourly rate Part-time / W-2 position About Code For Fun Code For Fun is a non-profit organization dedicated to making computer science education accessible and exciting for kids ages 5-18.
