Chorus Teacher 2-4 hours a week At Music in the Schools (MIS) we look for teachers who recognize that students should have equal access to music education regardless of their socio-economic status. Our teachers are dedicated to their craft, bringing quality instruction to students who would otherwise have no access to music classes like the ones we offer. We focus on engaging students, including music from their culture and others around the world to allow them to celebrate their differences and to find common ground. In this role you would be teaching chorus to elementary school students The position is 2-4 hours a week on mutually agreed upon days. The grade level(s) for this class is typically 2-4 but may vary for the 2026-27 school year. Classes occur between 3:15 and 5:15pm. Candidates MUST be available during this time frame on at least one day. There is a possibility for one class at 1:45 but it's only at one school. Responsibilities The successful candidate would teach chorus to beginning students who have little to no experience with music. Teach age appropriate songs from many cultures and in different languages when possible Ability to encourage healthy vocal habits and help students learn to sing with age appropriate singing voices Develop and prepare lesson plans that engage, encourage, and motivate students Provide a creative and fun environment Required At least one year of classroom teaching experience Music degree A pleasant singing voice and ability to play basic piano, guitar, ukulele, autoharp or another portable instrument. Keyboard is available at one school. Have a Bluetooth speaker to play music on a phone, computer, or other device. Knowledge and experience with low income students and the communities where live Reliable transportation Punctuality Dependability Attention to detail Extremely organized Some additional days for performances will be required Excellent classroom management Please note:

No Private Lessons Only:

One-on-one studio teaching experience does not qualify for this role.

No Solo Performers Only:

Gigging and stage performance experience do not replace classroom management skills. Additional Requirements Upon hiring successful candidate must pass a comprehensive criminal background check Eligibilty to work in the United States Proof of current TB test Proof of vaccination against Covid-19 Spanish speaking a plus but not required

Salary:
