About the Position Gentle Roots Farm is seeking an energetic, dependable, and compassionate After School Program Teacher who enjoys working with children in an outdoor, hands-on environment. This position provides a fun, safe, and engaging experience for children ages 5-15 through animal interactions, crafts, games, nature exploration, and farm activities. Our teachers help children connect with nature, build confidence, and develop practical skills while caring for animals and participating in daily farm life. Responsibilities Child Supervision & Activities Supervise children ages 5-15 in a safe and positive environment Plan and lead engaging after-school activities, including: Animal interactions Crafts and art projects Nature exploration Outdoor games Gardening Cooking activities Sensory play Homework support, if needed Encourage kindness, teamwork, creativity, responsibility, and leadership among children of varying ages. Parent Communication Communicate professionally with parents during drop-off and pick-up. Share important updates regarding schedules, activities, and child participation. Build positive relationships with families. Animal Care Assist with afternoon feeding, watering, and care of farm animals. Help children safely interact with animals. Monitor animals and report any concerns. Farm Operations Set up and clean up activities daily. Keep classrooms, play areas, barns, and supplies organized. Shop for activity materials and farm supplies as needed. Assist with general farm chores and maintenance. Events Help with farm events, birthday parties, field trips, seasonal programs, and community events as needed. Represent Gentle Roots Farm in a friendly and professional manner. Animal Feeding Schedule In addition to the regular Monday-Friday schedule (3:00 PM-6:00 PM), employees are expected to participate in the farm's feeding rotation: Evening animal feedings every other day according to the assigned schedule. Morning and evening animal feedings every other weekend. Arrive on time for assigned feeding shifts and notify management immediately if coverage is needed. Physical Requirements Lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly. Work outdoors in all weather conditions. Walk, bend, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods. Be comfortable getting dirty and working around farm animals. Qualifications Experience working with children ages 5-15 is preferred. Comfortable working with farm animals or willing to learn. Strong communication and organizational skills. Dependable, positive, and self-motivated. •CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain). •Must successfully pass any required background checks. Schedule & Availability Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM-6:00 PM. Required participation in evening feeding duties every other day. Required participation in morning and evening feedings every other weekend. Occasional evenings and weekends for special events.
