Wednesdays, 2:30 PM-3:30 PM Weekly after-school program Job Overview Join our after-school program as an After-School Spanish Club Assistant , supporting engaging, educational, and playful Spanish language experiences for elementary-aged children (6-11 years old). In this role, you will help create a welcoming environment where children can build language skills, explore Spanish-speaking cultures, and develop confidence through hands-on activities, games, and outdoor learning. This is a paid position ideal for someone who enjoys working with children, is enthusiastic about language and culture, and brings a warm, collaborative approach to youth programming. Responsibilities Assist with planning and facilitating interactive Spanish language activities for elementary-aged children Engage children in games, conversations, creative activities, and other hands-on language-learning experiences Supervise children during club sessions, transitions, and activities, prioritizing safety and well-being Support positive classroom management and help create an inclusive, respectful learning environment Support activities for children with different learning styles, abilities, and developmental needs Communicate positively and professionally with children, families, and program staff Assist with setup and cleanup of activity spaces and ensure materials are organized and ready for each session Follow established emergency, safety, and child supervision procedures Required Qualifications Experience working with children in an educational, childcare, camp, after-school, or youth program setting Proficiency in Spanish (conversational or higher) Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage elementary-aged children in a warm and encouraging way Ability to work collaboratively with a lead instructor and program team Dependable, responsible, and comfortable taking initiative in a youth program setting Reliable transportation and ability to arrive on time for the scheduled program Ability to activities and supervise children in an active environment Preferred Qualifications Background or coursework in early childhood education, child development, education, Spanish, or a related field Experience facilitating language-learning, tutoring, arts, theater, camp, or youth enrichment activities CPR/First Aid/AED certification, or willingness to obtain certification upon hire Experience working with multilingual learners or in culturally diverse educational settings Ideal Candidate We are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about working with children and excited to help young learners develop an appreciation for Spanish language and culture. The ideal candidate is warm, dependable, playful, culturally curious, and able to create a positive and engaging environment where children feel welcome and supported.
Pay:
$20.00 - $25.00 per hour
