Job Description

Position Overview Weston is seeking to hire Learning Assistants to provide academic, social, and behavioral support to students in collaboration with the classroom teachers at Weston Middle and High School. This is a regular role, 7 hours per day (6.5 + a 30 minute unpaid lunch), Monday-Friday, when school is in session, reporting to the School Principal. We are looking for a diverse pool of applicants who are inspired by our mission to educate, equip, and inspire all students to achieve their full potential and enrich their community. About the Weston Public Schools The Weston Public Schools enrolls approximately 2,000 students in pre-kindergarten through grade 12. The school district includes a high school for grades 9-12, a middle school for grades 6-8, an upper elementary school for grades 4-5, and two lower elementary schools for pre-kindergarten through grade 3. Since 1967, Weston has participated in METCO (Metropolitan Council for Educational Opportunity) - a voluntary school integration program that places Boston residents in suburban schools. The Weston METCO program enrolls approximately 150 students (K-12). Key Responsibilities Embrace the diversity of the Weston Public Schools by fostering an environment of respect and inclusion Use appropriate applied behavior, teaching, communication, and reinforcement techniques consistently Complete all required documentation and data collection Provide individual and small group instruction Assist the teacher in devising strategies for reinforcing material or skills based on an understanding individual student needs, interests and abilities Other duties as assigned by the Building Principal Desired Qualifications Bachelor's degree Teaching experience preferred, ideally in a diverse public school setting Experience working with students with special needs, behavior background preferred Competent with technology, including Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Zoom Compensation and Benefits A Learning Assistant will earn between $27.18 - $33.52 per hour, depending on relevant experience and qualifications.
