We believe children learn best when they feel safe, known, challenged and genuinely excited to learn. Our classrooms are intentionally small (7 students), allowing our guides to build meaningful relationships with each scholar while creating learning experiences that extend beyond worksheets and desks. Our program blends academics, hands on exploration, thematic learning, bilingual exposure, creativity, movement and enrichment to support the whole child. The Role We are looking for a warm, dependable and engaging K-1 Guide to lead our Kindergarten-1st Grade scholars. This person should genuinely enjoy working with young children and understand that great teaching at this age is about more than delivering lessons. We want someone who can create a classroom where children feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, trying again and being themselves. Our ideal guide is able to provide structure without creating a rigid environment and understands how to balance academic growth with play, exploration, movement and connection. What You'll Do Lead engaging, developmentally appropriate instruction for Kindergarten -1st Grade scholars and then preschool students for the second part of the day Facilitate lessons in literacy, writing, math, science, social studies and thematic studies Create hands on learning experiences that encourage curiosity and critical thinking Differentiate instruction based on individual student needs and academic levels Build strong, nurturing relationships with scholars Maintain clear routines, expectations and positive classroom management Encourage independence, confidence, kindness and problem solving Track student growth and communicate observations or concerns with the Director Collaborate with our Spanish guide to support SLA's immersion model Prepare and reset classroom materials and learning spaces Participate in school traditions, special experiences, field trips and community events Help protect the warm, close knit culture that makes Safari Life Academy special We'd Love Someone Who… Is naturally warm, patient, encouraging and emotionally aware Is consistent and reliable Loves making learning creative and engaging Understands early elementary development Can confidently manage a small classroom while maintaining a nurturing environment Is comfortable adapting instruction when a child needs more support or more challenge Values communication and collaboration Believes children deserve to feel respected and known at school Is excited by a nontraditional approach to elementary education Brings positive energy and takes initiative Wants to become an important part of a small school community, not simply clock in and teach Qualifications Experience working with elementary aged children required Classroom teaching experience strongly preferred Degree or coursework in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, Child Development or a related field preferred Strong understanding of foundational literacy and mathematics Ability to pass required background checks CPR/First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain Spanish proficiency is a plus, but not required What Makes SLA Different Our guides aren't managing classrooms of 25+ students.
