Tribeca Prep is a 12-month independent special education early childhood and elementary school. Our goal is to prepare our students for a less restrictive environment by developing their academic and social skills. Through our cohesive team of teachers, specialists, and therapists, we offer our promising learners in grades PK-8, a rigorous, learner-centered, education with integrated support that fosters independence and self-advocacy.

Job Overview:

After School Care staff will support students to successfully participate in social opportunities with their peers, support them to play games with other students, and assist the students to participate in a variety of activities throughout the school (such as crafts, music, structured sports games, projects, etc.).

Expected Hours of Work:

After School Staff hours are about 2:30 pm

• 5:00/5:15 pm on school days, Mondays
• Thursdays when school is in session, Regular school year session runs through June 13th, 2024, and the summer session will be Mon-Thurs July 8th
• August 1st.

Successful candidates for the position should possess the following qualities:

Preferred:

prior experience working in special needs learning spaces

Preferred:

experience and/or knowledge in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Enjoy working with children and desire to have additional experience supporting students with special needs.

They should excel in communication, actively listening, and asking probing questions. They should be able to engage with all members of the school community and strike a balance between candor and empathy.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Assist children with assignments and homework, such as reading, writing, and math. Prepare activity materials and equipment, such as books, arts and crafts, stationery, and other supplies, as needed. Interact with children to provide guidance, emotional support, and motivation to complete tasks. Utilize effective strategies to engage and motivate students. Assist in planning and implementation of academic, enrichment, arts, and recreational extra-curricular learning experiences for students. Work effectively with students in after school activities and assisting with behavior management, interpersonal actions, and acting as a role model. Help mentor students in a variety of learning and life experiences. Support and supervise environments that are safe, healthy, and conducive to student learning. Maintain a safe and positive learning environment. Promote participation of students.

Requirements and Qualifications:

Ability to foster a fun and safe environment conducive to learning and participating in activities. General knowledge of child behavior and learning patterns. Ability to work with children and remain friendly, calm, and patient at all times. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Good analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to set rules and guidelines for children to follow. Patience and ability to adapt methods to meet the needs of different students.

Preferred:

Knowledge and skills in working with children who are twice exceptional and children with autism, ADHD, and other developmental and learning disabilities.

previous experience working with children, such as tutoring, daycare, or classroom experience

License/Certification:
