Mindful Minds - Whitestone, NY Mindful Minds is looking for an enthusiastic and responsible Chess & Gym Counselor to join our after-school program. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with elementary-age children and can create a fun, positive, and structured environment. Position Responsibilities Lead chess activities and beginner/intermediate chess instruction for elementary school students. Organize and supervise gym games, sports, and physical activities . Keep students engaged through age-appropriate games and recreational activities. Maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment. Help establish clear rules and routines for students. Supervise students during transitions and activity periods. Work cooperatively with other after-school teachers and staff. Assist with homework supervision or other program activities when needed. Qualifications Experience working with elementary-age children preferred. Chess knowledge or experience teaching chess is preferred. Experience with sports, physical education, recreation, or gym activities is a plus. Energetic, patient, responsible, and dependable. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Ability to keep children actively engaged and supervised. Teaching, education, childcare, coaching, or camp experience is a plus. Schedule After-school hours, Monday-Friday Part-time position; specific days and hours may vary based on program needs.
