After School Activity Leader Schoolyard Sports Cedar Mill, OR Job Details Part-time $25 - $30 an hour 17 hours ago Qualifications Outdoor work experience Soccer coaching Working with students Performing background checks Full Job Description One afternoon per week | Small groups of 4-8 students Schoolyard Sports is a Portland-area not-for-profit organization that introduces elementary school children to sports through fun, active, skill-based after-school classes. We teach Golf, Pickleball, Lacrosse, and Volleyball using the open spaces already available at elementary schools, including schoolyards, blacktops, and covered play areas. Our classes focus on skill development, movement, confidence, and fun rather than competition. We're looking for enthusiastic coaches who enjoy working with children and want to make a positive impact through sports. The Role Lead a 90 minute after-school class one afternoon per week , typically with 4-8 elementary students. Depending on the class, you will: Lead our K-2nd Grade Golf Multi-Sport class , introducing children to Golf, Pickleball, Lacrosse, and Volleyball through games and skill-based activities Lead our 3rd-5th Grade Golf class , helping children develop fundamental golf skills through age-appropriate instruction Our curriculum is simple, tested, and specifically designed for young children. You do not need to be an experienced golf instructor. What We're Looking For We are primarily looking for someone who: Enjoys working with elementary-aged children Is energetic, responsible, patient, and enthusiastic Has experience coaching youth sports, working with children, or working with students Can create a positive environment where every child feels successful Is comfortable leading a small group independently Has an interest in sports and physical activity Can commit to one afternoon per week Golf experience is helpful but not required. Experience playing or coaching golf, volleyball, lacrosse, tennis, pickleball, basketball, soccer, or other sports is a plus. Schedule One afternoon per week, typically beginning around 2:30 PM 90 minute instructional class Approximately 3 hours total at the school , including setup and waiting for parent pickup 4-6 week outdoor sessions in Fall and Spring and some year-round indoor programs Classes take place on elementary school campuses, typically on a blacktop, covered play area, or other open schoolyard space or in an indoor activity room Additional summer camp opportunities may be available Training & Support We provide the curriculum, equipment, and training you need to be successful.
