Job Description:
Tyger River Children's Center is in need of an After School Teacher. We are looking for a high energy, childhood education geared individual. We provide a safe, homework-centered after school program for students in K5 through 8th grade . Our days are structured, and filled with growth mindset focused learning and fun in a Christian environment! This position is part-time from 1:30 PM-6PM during the school year and averages 20-25 hours per week, and in the summer time hours averages 30-35 hours per week.Qualifications:
- Have a high school degree or equivalent education
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be mentally and physically capable of caring for a large group of children alone in a classroom
- Possess a strong work ethic, be punctual, and have minimal absences
- Have dependable transportation
- Must be able to lift 40 pounds, easily navigate stairs, and physically capable of caring for children in a variety of settings
- Have childcare experience or child development/education classes
Required Expectations:
- Ensure the safety and well-being of each child by responding to their emotional, social, and physical needs as well as their educational needs.
- Be a positive role model for all care giving staff and children
- Be warm and nurturing with children
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Appropriately supervise children while keeping them safe at all times
- Assist children in homework completion and studying for upcoming quizzes and tests
- Implement activities and crafts during free time after homework
- Facilitate activities that are developmentally appropriate for the specific grade level
- Maintain an environment that is clean, organized, and safe for all children
- Manage a group of children utilizing appropriate classroom management techniques
- Serve snacks to children and clean up the preparation and eating areas afterwards
