Middle School Science Teacher Hampton Roads Academy seeks a Middle School Science teacher to join our faculty for the 2026-2027 school year as a 5th and 6th grade Science teacher. The successful candidate will work with colleagues to provide an engaging, developmentally appropriate science program that encourages curiosity, scientific thinking, and a deep understanding of the natural world. Our science program encourages students to ask purposeful questions, make intentional observations, test ideas, and learn from evidence. Responsibilities The successful candidate will:

Design and deliver engaging science instruction that encourages students to ask purposeful questions, make intentional observations, test ideas, and communicate their thinking. Help students develop the confidence and independence to tackle increasingly challenging work by gradually transferring responsibility for learning to them. Differentiate instruction and provide appropriate support while maintaining high expectations for all students. Use a variety of assessments to monitor student learning, provide meaningful feedback, and inform instruction. Establish a classroom environment that is organized, respectful, and conducive to learning. Build strong relationships with students and communicate openly and professionally with families. Collaborate with colleagues to support students and contribute to a positive and productive faculty culture. Maintain accurate student records and fulfill professional responsibilities in a timely manner. Supervise students and uphold school expectations to ensure a safe learning environment. Participate fully in the life of the school as an advisor, coach, club sponsor, or other extracurricular opportunities. Qualifications Required Bachelor's degree in science, science education, or a related field. Experience teaching or working with middle school-aged students, grades 5-8. Strong knowledge of science content and effective instructional practices. Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational and classroom management skills. A collaborative approach and genuine enthusiasm for working with young adolescents. Preferred Master's degree in science, science education, or a related field. Independent school teaching experience. Experience designing inquiry-based science instruction. Experience differentiating instruction for a range of learners.
