The Indian Community School is a private, faith-based school located in Franklin, Wisconsin with a student population of approximately 360 American Indian students in K4-8th grades. Indian Community School, Inc. is seeking a qualified Middle School (7-8th Grade) Math Teacher (1.0 FTE). A successful teacher in this position will ensure a high-quality teaching and learning environment that utilizes best practices. The academic programming at ICS is offered in an equitable, multicultural setting and teaches all children to think deeply, critically, and creatively. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background, knowledge, and skills that support a positive, engaging learning environment by demonstrating the following: Knowledge of middle school aged children. Knowledge in understanding the Common Core State Standards for Mathematics. Develop and implement authentic assessment of student learning to support various learning styles and student voice and choice. Collaborate with school staff to integrate American Indian culture into all curricular content through authentic learning experiences. Utilize formative and summative assessment data to inform instruction and provide feedback toward student growth and improvement. Develop effective lessons, units, and assessments that are aligned to ICS Learning Targets. Knowledge or experience in inquiry-based practices such as Project Based Learning. Incorporate outdoor learning environments into lessons and units. Implement best instructional practices to provide student-centered learning environments that ensure the success of all students. Implement effective classroom management strategies that focus on building positive relationships with students. Effectively communicate with families related to the learning environment and progress of individual students. Demonstrate creativity and adaptability toward assisting the school with meeting the needs of all students. Demonstrate flexibility with use of changing technology both in the classroom and a part of professional planning. Proactively participate and collaborate with other staff in all-staff and faculty meetings, curriculum team meetings, educational conferences, school committees and professional development seminars and workshops. Actively participate in learning about American Indian culture, language, traditions, and the Seven Sacred Gifts. Integrate the Our Ways Teaching and Learning FrameworkTM into academic content areas. Build and maintain professional relationships with students, families, staff, and administration that are positive, constructive, and focused on team collaboration. Comply with State Laws in reporting suspected child abuse and neglect. Demonstration of strong organization, time-management, and oral, written, technical, and interpersonal communication skills. Commitment to ongoing professional growth and development.
