Curator Services Specialist Location:
Port Hueneme, CA Job Summary The U.S. Navy Seabee Museum is seeking a Curator Services Specialist to support museum collection management and digitization efforts. This position assists with inventorying, photographing, cleaning, repacking, and cataloging artifacts in storage to help make the collection more accessible to the Navy and the public. Responsibilities Assist with inventory of approximately 17,000 artifacts in storage. Unpack storage boxes and catalog items accurately. Photograph each artifact as it is processed. Clean and repack artifacts using proper museum and industry best practices. Support digitization of the museum collection. Perform routine work and special assignments as directed. Follow museum procedures, policies, and handling standards to protect valuable historic materials. Work collaboratively with museum staff, Navy personnel, and visitors of all ages and abilities. Qualifications Working knowledge at an expert level in museum collection support or related curatorial work. Experience with digital photography. Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop Elements and Acrobat Professional. Familiarity with current museum collection management standards and digital asset management best practices. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to handle and protect sensitive historic and educational materials. Physical ability to walk, climb ladders, stand, bend, stoop, and lift up to 50 pounds. Work Schedule Monday through Friday, 0730 to 1600. Federal holidays off when the museum is closed. Additional Requirements U.S. citizenship required. Security clearance and CAC are not required. Travel may be required, though it is not anticipated. Travel within a 50-mile radius of the museum is not reimbursable.

$50,692.30 - $61,048.80 per year
