Thursday, May 28th, 2026 JOB DUTIESESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Performs a variety of duties in relation to the visitor/community information and museum store areas at all Museum facility locations including: Farmington Museum, Riverside Nature Center, E3 Children's Museum & Science Center, Museum of Navajo Art & Culture, and Harvest Grove Farm & Orchard. May assist in the closing and securing of Museum facilities as needed. Works under the supervision of the Museum Director and the Hospitality Staff Supervisor and assists both CVB and Museum staff with Gateway visitor functions. Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Assists visitors by answering questions and handling requests for information and assistance in a friendly and accurate manner; ensures visitors receive correct and complete answers to their questions or are referred to another appropriate resource. Acts as initial contact with all visitors requiring a friendly and courteous manner. Acts appropriately to satisfy customer complaints and/or directs those complaints to the appropriate personnel. Performs a variety of duties in museum store. Prepares weekly events listing for greater Four Corners area utilizing newspapers, prepared calendars, bulletin boards, periodicals and other resources. Restocks brochures as needed in Visitor Kiosk and is responsible for general appearance and cleanliness of visitor/atrium area. Responsible for store sales and sales assistance to visitors, must be able to count change in the performance of these duties. Assists with the merchandise stocking and the general appearance of the store. Assists with volunteer training and supervision. Assists museum staff with various gallery operations related to visitor services. Data entry as job requires. Assists visitors with park reservation system, working with parks reservation system operator. Attendance at work is an essential function of this position.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES

This position is subject to the City's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Program.This includes:

Extensive background checks required. A basic knowledge of Farmington and the surrounding area. Ability to work well with the public of all ages, volunteers, staff, school groups, tour groups and others. Ability to make change and count money accurately. Ability to communicate orally and in writing and ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions and give simple directions and instructions. Ability to listen and understand questions or potential problems. Ability to lift, push, pull 50 pounds with assistance for the purpose of stocking and cleaning. Must be able to work a varied shift schedule. Ability to meet deadlines. Ability to operate tools and equipment listed. Supervised by the Youth Services Coordinator. Work is performed under the direction of the Youth Services Coordinator, Youth Services Librarian, or as determined by the Youth Services Coordinator. Supervision of other employees is not a responsibility of this position. This position requires maintaining high levels of energy and enthusiasm throughout the workday while interacting with children, teenagers, and adult patrons. You will spend significant time on your feet conducting dynamic activities such as storytimes, games, science projects, and crafts. The role requires maintaining enthusiasm and physical stamina while engaging with young patrons and families in an active library environment. Some artistic, theater, and/or public speaking experience is preferred. Provides enthusiastic, courteous and respectful assistance to the public in person and over the phone. Greets patrons, locates and provides information, instructs patrons in the use of library catalogs, assists with locating materials, refers inquiries to appropriate personnel, and promotes library programs. Performs duties requiring acute sensory awareness, including the ability to clearly hear and respond to patron inquiries in both quiet and noisy environments. Must possess sufficient visual acuity to read small text, such as the text on book spines. Creates a welcoming atmosphere by actively interacting with patrons of all ages throughout each workday. Plans, prepares, and delivers engaging library programs while contributing to the development of new offerings. Handles all aspects of program logistics including gathering supplies, arranging furniture, setting up tables, and returning spaces to their original condition after events. Programs may take place indoors or outdoors in all types of weather. This role involves minimal sitting, as you will be actively moving throughout programs. Plans, sets up and refreshes engaging book displays throughout the youth services department. Requires the physical ability to transport numerous books at once and maneuver fully-loaded book carts across substantial distances within the library. Assists in the setup, serving, and cleanup of food-related events. Must be able to work in environments where exposure to common allergens (e.g., peanuts, dairy, gluten) may occur. Creates a welcoming atmosphere by actively interacting with patrons of all ages throughout each workday. Collects and tracks program attendance statistics and other library statistics. Sets up various audio/visual technology and equipment, ensuring smooth operation of library events and programs. Prepares and organizes materials needed for programs such as books, craft materials, or supplies for activities. Maintains the neat and orderly appearance of the Youth Services desk, displays, shared workspaces, and the library. Assists in planning, executing, and closing projects to improve the youth services department. Works part-time under the supervision of the Farmington Indian Center (FIC) Director, unless otherwise instructed. Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public. Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City. Knowledge and ability to assist in preparing Navajo cultural food. Serves meals to patrons according to established rules of etiquette, working in formal setting. Writes order on check, relays order to kitchen, and serves courses from kitchen counter. Receives full trays from kitchen, services salad bars, and serves drinks. Observes diners to respond to any additional requests and to determine when meal has been completed. Ladles soup, tosses salads, portions pies and desserts, brews coffee, and performs other services. Clears and resets counters or tables at conclusion of each course or end of day. Decorates dining area in accordance with special days, such as Thanksgiving or Christmas. Aprons, hair nets, caps or chef hats, shall be worn by all food service workers. Sweeps, mops, or vacuums dining room floor/carpet daily. Keep food and temperature logs up to date and other daily, weekly, and monthly reports. Participates in emergency drills, environmental safety activities, documents safety protocol. Assists with events and programs as needed throughout Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs (PRCA). Wears close-toed shoes and appropriate clothing. Operates cash register and prepares deposits with peripheral electronic processing equipment. Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the maintenance and operation of the Civic Center facilities including Totah Theater and the pavilion and Sandstone Amphitheater at Lions Wilderness Park. Works under the supervision of the Facilities Manager and the Facilities Technician Supervisor. Supervision is not exercised in this position. Normally required to perform shift work in a rotation of days, evenings and nights including weekends and holidays. Set up and tear down of equipment for events, including electrical, and audio-visual (AV). Picks up litter from around buildings and grounds. Maintain high degree of public contact. Performs minor maintenance on equipment. Prepares technical logs as required for billing purposes.
