PRIMARY PURPOSE
Gilbert House Children's Museum welcomes over 95,000 visitors annually and provides a multitude of opportunities for families to engage in learning through creative play. The Seasonal Visitor Service Associate is responsible for promoting a fun, safe, and clean learning experience for all visitors.
KEY JOB ELEMENTS
Gilbert House Children's Museum provides learning through creative play opportunities for children, with focus on children ages 2-10. Seasonal Visitor Service Associates are responsible for providing a positive customer service experience for guests, be able to manage a variety of tasks, and must work well in a team environment. They must be able to be positive and perform in a professional and courteous manner.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Customer Service
  • Interact with visitors and promote memberships, learning opportunities, events, and activities.
Review tasks lists assigned to VSAs to make sure they are the most up to date with operations. Fill in as a VSA in the event of a call out or late arrival of a VSA. To ensure smooth operations of the museum. Assist the Experience Coordinator in the interview process and employee reviews. Train new hires in the operations of the museum. Correct VSAs if there are tasks not being completed correctly. Attend and provide feedback during monthly VSA meetings. Review stock in the museum and communicate with Experience Coordinator when items need to be reordered. Communicate with Exhibits Lead to create success between both departments. Clean and maintain outdoor surfaces, including wiping down benches, railings, chalk marks, and air conditioning units. Manage Outdoor Discovery Area garbage and recycling receptacles, ensuring cleanliness and proper disposal. Wash pavilion to continue its upkeep. Deep clean areas of the Bubble Factory such as behind the sinks, pressure wash the floor, wash the windows, clean out the cupboard, wash the garage door windows, and wash the door window. Repaint or stain wood structures in the sand area and Fort Gilbert as needed. Rake leaves and maintain turf throughout complex. Maintain garden beds by planting, weeding, mulching, and watering to ensure outdoor spaces are safe, tidy, and welcoming for visitors. Communicate with Experience Coordinator of any hazards with in and out of the museum. Annually review Safety Data Sheet Binders, with Experience Coordinator, to ensure the museum stays accurate and up to date. Notify Experience Coordinator of low items in the safety corner. Ensure the cleanliness of the corner. Ensure Code Green Buckets are staying stocked and clean. Present at events to provide support to ensure the success of the event. Prep spaces of the museum for cleanliness before events. Communicate with Experience and Promotion Coordinator for the specific tasks. Clean filters in mini-split systems located in the Bubble Factory, Wilson Durbin, and Little Gem on a quarterly basis. Birthday Parties
  • Assist in staging room and provide additional customer service care, when needed. Communication

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must be 18 years or older, be able to climb stairs, lift up to 20 pounds, have reliable transportation and pass a background check. The Museum is open Tuesday
  • Sunday, 10am to 5pm (September
  • May) and Sunday
  • Saturday, 10am to 5pm (May
  • September).
Weekend work is required. This position is full-time and begins at $19.00/hour.
