• Conduct fieldwork using appropriate field techniques. o This can include walking up to several miles per day in challenging terrain; hand-digging shovel probes and excavation units; lifting and pushing/pulling up to 40 pounds; and working in a broad range of temperatures and weather conditions.

• Use effective verbal and written communication to listen and communicate with others.

You bring:

• A Bachelor's degree in archaeology or anthropology. o Extensive field experience will also be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree; enrolled students nearing graduation (typically within one semester) will also be considered.
• Completion of an accredited field school or demonstrable equivalent experience.

o The field school will preferably be university-based and completed for academic credit and must entail at least 4+ weeks of intensive, hands-on education in archaeological excavation techniques resulting in learned skills such as digging and screening, artifact and feature identification, soil recordation, mapping, documentation, etc.

You also have:

• Proficiency in the use of computer programs and database systems.
• Familiarity with the operations and use of cameras, GPS, and GIS equipment and software.

Travel and Work Environment This is a field-forward role. You'll spend most of your time working on projects across the region, with some office or lab opportunities depending on your interests and experience.
