Pope Memorial Library Executive Director Job Description SUMMARY The Executive Director of the Pope Memorial Library serves two unique roles: as executive director of a non-profit, privately-funded institution, and as the chief librarian of an open-to-the-public community library. The Executive Director is employed by the Board of Directors and is in partnership with and reports to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director is responsible, under the guidance and authority of the board, to assure the Pope Memorial Library lives its motto - More Than Books.
RESPONSIBLE FOR
♦ Development and execution of programs directed to the community and engaging the community in fulfillment of the Library vision, including revenue generating activities ♦ Adherence to the Library's mission statement and policies, working to further the goals of the library. ♦ Compliance with all Library policies, assuring library alignment with ALA and NH State Library initiatives ♦ Partnership with the Board of Directors ♦ Fund development activities, especially relationship-building and individual giving ♦ Public image, acting as chief spokesperson for the library. ♦ Daily operations of the library ♦ Collection maintenance and management ♦ Financial record-keeping ♦ Volunteer program. ♦Staffing:
including hiring, delegation, termination ♦ Library record-keeping ♦ Property management and maintenanceCOMPENSATION & BENEFITS

♦ Knowledge of the principles and practices of library work and of the organization and management of library operations, including administration, staff management and finance. ♦ Versed in nonprofit management: including legal requirements for nonprofits, nonprofit boards, nonprofit financial reporting ♦ Fund-raising, development experience ♦ Staff supervision experience ♦ Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills. ♦ Advanced computer skills ♦ Ability to plan, organize, and conduct programs for all age groups. ♦ Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
