Curator of Public Programs and Membership Position Summary Guest Services and Event Support staff members serve as the museum's front line of hospitality. Guest services staff represent the museum and serve the public in three primary areas: (1) provide an exceptional customer service experience to visitors; (2) ensure the safety and security of visitors, museum spaces, and collections objects; (3) support events and rentals from set-up through break-down; and (4) assist with front line museum operations including gift store support, and reception duties. Reports to the Curator Public Programs & Membership. No supervisory responsibilities. Essential Qualifications Experience in a customer service role Demonstrated excellence in interpersonal communication A focus on and commitment to inclusion and community collaboration Demonstrated sensitivity to and respect for diverse backgrounds and identitiesPosition Responsibilities:
Offer an exceptional level of customer service to museum visitors Operate P.O.S. system to sell admission tickets and gift shop gallery items Set-up and take down tables and chairs for programs, events, and rentals Provide guests with an orientation to the space as well as information on museum history, current exhibitions, membership, and programs Gift shop gallery support including pricing, merchandising, cleaning, and quarterly inventory Ensure cleanliness of museum lobby including daily vacuuming and checking bathroom status Supervise guests to ensure the safety and security of visitors, museum spaces, temporary exhibitions, and collections objects Admin and support duties as assigned by supervisor Other duties as assigned by supervisor Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities (KSAs)Required:
Proficiency in software including Google Workspace (Drive, Gmail, and Calendar) and Square Excellent communication and listening skills Exceptional customer service and relationship-building abilities Goal-driven, organized, and efficient at completing work tasks/assignmentsExperience and Education:
1-2 years of similar experience in Event Services and/or Customer service field Additional Qualifications Museum or Gallery experience is preferredWorking Conditions & Physical Effort:
Part-time, approximately 10-15 hrs/week. Flexible daytime/evening (and weekend) hours based on museum operations, public hours, and special events, with support of other staff and volunteers. Work may be performed in an office environment, museum environment, or community environment. Moderate physical activity. Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 25 pounds and/or standing and/or walking an average of two or more hours per day. Personal transportation and/or access to public transportation.Possible on-site working hours include:
Thursdays and Fridays 10:30 AM- 10:00 PM, Saturdays 11:30 AM
- 10:00 PM, and Sundays 11:00 AM
- 5:00 PM Guest Services desk hours will occur during public Museum hours.
