Job Description
Music & Arts seeks a passionate Music Teacher to provide high quality private and group lessons in our retail store. You'll develop customized lesson plans, teach a variety of instruments (primarily band and orchestra), and help students of all ages build fundamental music skills and performance confidence. In this role, you'll collaborate with store staff and school service reps, support recitals and events, and promote additional lessons, rentals, and accessories. Ideal candidates combine strong musicianship, prior teaching or tutoring experience, and a commitment to student success in a collaborative, customer focused retail environment. Responsibilities Provide private and small group music lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels Develop individualized lesson plans aligned to student goals and school or performance needs Teach fundamentals of music theory, technique, sight reading, and performance skills Prepare students for recitals, auditions, school performances, and ensemble participation Communicate regularly with parents and students on progress, goals, and practice expectations Collaborate with store staff and school service reps to support student recruitment and retention Recommend appropriate instruments, accessories, and materials to enhance learning Maintain accurate schedules, attendance, and basic lesson documentation Support in store recitals, events, and community outreach to promote music education Uphold a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment in the lesson studio Required Skills Instrumental performance (primary instrument) Music theory fundamentals Lesson planning and curriculum design Classroom or studio management Student assessment and progress tracking Ensemble and performance preparation Basic sales of lessons, rentals, and accessories Written and verbal communication Parent and student relationship management Time management and scheduling software use
