The teacher builds and sustains a music program that serves students across a full range of experience, from beginners just discovering their voice or picking up an instrument for the first time, to intermediate students refining technique, to advanced students preparing for performance and possible collegiate study. In the Show Choir program, the teacher directs vocal music instruction paired with staging, choreography, and ensemble performance, cultivating both individual musicianship and the discipline of performing as a unified group. Students learn vocal technique, sight-reading, harmony, and stage presence while preparing repertoire for school assemblies, community events, and competitive festivals. In Guitar, the teacher provides sequential instruction in technique, music reading, and performance practice, meeting students where they are — whether they are learning their first chords or developing lead and ensemble playing skills. The guitar curriculum emphasizes both individual skill-building and small
  • and large-group playing, giving students a pathway from foundational technique to more advanced repertoire and improvisation.
Because the position serves students at the co-located campus of Sullivan Middle School and Bonsall High School, the teacher works across a secondary school span, adapting instruction and repertoire to the needs of both middle school and high school students within a shared facility. This co-located setting creates a natural feeder relationship between the two programs, giving the teacher an opportunity to build continuity for students as they progress from middle school into high school and to shape a coherent, multi-year Show Choir and Guitar program across both campuses.
