Voice Instructor Simfoni School of Music Mountain View, CA Job Details Part-time $50 - $80 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Music Teamwork Working with students Music Education Adult education Full Job Description Voice Instructor - Private Lessons & Children's Group Singing Simfoni School of Music is seeking a warm, patient, and dependable Voice Instructor to join our growing music education team. The instructor will primarily teach private voice lessons as well as a small-group singing class for younger children , beginning around age 5. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children and can create an encouraging, engaging, and positive learning environment. Responsibilities Teach private voice lessons to children and potentially teen/adult students. Lead a small-group singing class for younger children, approximately ages 5 and up . Introduce age-appropriate vocal fundamentals, including healthy vocal production, breathing, pitch matching, rhythm, diction, musical expression, and performance skills. Select engaging and age-appropriate repertoire based on students' ages, abilities, and interests. Help young students develop confidence and enjoyment in singing. Prepare students for school recitals, concerts, and other performance opportunities. Communicate professionally and positively with students, parents, and school staff. Arrive on time and maintain a consistent and dependable teaching schedule once hired. Collaborate with other instructors when preparing school concerts, ensemble projects, or special performances. Qualifications Strong vocal and general musicianship skills. Prior experience teaching voice is preferred. Experience working with young children (ages 5+) is strongly preferred; candidates who are enthusiastic and willing to develop their skills in early-childhood/elementary-age instruction are also encouraged to apply. Patient, energetic, encouraging, and comfortable interacting with children. Dependable, punctual, and able to commit to a stable weekly teaching schedule. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to create lessons that balance solid musical instruction with an enjoyable and supportive atmosphere. Preferred Qualifications Degree or current study in Voice, Vocal Performance, Music Education, Musical Theatre, or a related field . Musical theatre training or performance experience is a plus, but not required . Experience teaching children's group singing, choir, musical theatre, or similar programs is a plus. Basic piano/keyboard skills for accompanying lessons and vocal exercises are highly desirable. Experience preparing young singers for recitals, concerts, auditions, or staged performances is a plus. Additional Paid Performance Opportunity For candidates who are interested, there may also be an opportunity to participate in the church choir and/or praise band associated with our teaching location.
This may include:
Participating in choir and/or praise band rehearsals. Singing with the choir or praise band during church services. Supporting special church musical events or performances when needed. Additional compensation may be available for this work. Participation in church music activities is optional and is not required for the Voice Instructor position. For many of our younger students, their voice teacher may be the person who helps them discover confidence in singing for the first time.
