Piano Instructor Opus38 Studio | San Francisco (South of Market) Part-Time | In-Person | Hiring Now 1-2 Positions Available $55-$85/hour, depending on qualifications and experience About Opus38 Studio Opus38 Studio is a community-centered music school in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood. We provide high-quality, student-focused piano instruction in a supportive and artistically vibrant environment. Founded and directed by Lisa Maresch, a music educator with over 30 years of teaching experience, Opus38 is intentionally designed to support both students and teachers. We value thoughtful teaching, professional communication, artistic growth, and a collaborative studio culture. As part of our growing piano faculty, you will have the opportunity to build a consistent teaching schedule, work with students of different ages and levels, and participate in performances, workshops, masterclasses, and other studio programs.

Schedule Tuesdays-Fridays:

9:00 AM-9:00

PM Saturdays:

9:00 AM-5:00 PM Flexible part-time teaching blocks, typically 1-5 days per week , based on availability and studio needs 10-month teaching calendar: August-May Optional summer teaching opportunities in June-July Responsibilities Teach private piano lessons to children, teenagers, and/or adults Develop individualized instruction based on each student's goals, learning style, age, and level Build strong foundations in technique, musicianship, sight-reading, theory, and musical interpretation Prepare students for studio performances, recitals, competitions, and examinations such as CM, ABRSM, or RCM , when appropriate Encourage students to develop independence, confidence, concentration, creativity, and problem-solving skills Communicate professionally and consistently with students and families Maintain organized lesson plans and student progress Participate in selected studio performances, workshops, masterclasses, faculty meetings, and other programs Contribute to a positive, respectful, and collaborative studio environment What We're Looking For An advanced degree in music or equivalent professional teaching and performance experience Strong piano technique and musicianship Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Reliability, punctuality, and strong organization A thoughtful, student-centered approach to teaching Commitment to continued professional growth A reliable commute to our San Francisco studio Comfort teaching in person and openness to online instruction when appropriate Authorization to work in the United States Additional experience with the following is a plus: Preparing students for examination Competition preparation Teaching group piano or chamber music Accompanying/collaborative piano Music theory and musicianship Jazz, improvisation, composition, or other specialized areas Membership in professional organizations is encouraged but not required.
