Shining Star Music Academy is currently hiring music teachers in the St. Augustine, FL and Jacksonville, FL area to help meet growing demand! We are especially looking for Voice and Strings teachers (including violin, viola, cello, and bass) to help meet our current student needs. We do ask our Voice and Strings teachers to be comfortable teaching beginner piano to young children as well . Prior piano-teaching experience is not required, and we provide training and support to help you feel confident teaching beginner-level piano. Teachers who can play or teach additional instruments are also welcome to apply! We provide in-home music lessons, and our team handles all scheduling, family communication, and administrative work so you can focus on what you love—teaching music. We have openings for teachers with availability during weekday morning, afternoon, and evening hours . Hours are flexible based on your availability and the total number of hours you would like to teach. You'll be joining a passionate team of educators committed to quality instruction and joyful learning experiences. Job Type Part-time Hours are flexible based on your availability and desired workload. Start Date 2026 Fall Semester (September Start) or 2027 Spring Semester (January Start) Compensation $29.50-$35.00 per teaching hour , plus $14.00/hour for driving time between lessons and paid training at $14.00/hour . Work Location On the road — providing in-home music lessons throughout the St. Augustine area , with some opportunities to teach students in the Jacksonville area as well . Minimum Requirements Please do not apply if you do not meet all of the following: Music lesson experience as a student (private lessons and performance) in at least one instrument Live locally in Jacksonville, FL or St. Augustine, FL or a nearby community or other surrounding towns Willing to teach at least 2 hours per week Reliable vehicle Commitment to pursuing excellence in your instrument(s) Performance experience Comfortable teaching beginner piano to young children ; training and support are provided Self-directed and responsible Punctual and professional Passion for sharing music Flexible and student-centered teaching style Also Desired (Not Required) Experience teaching any subject Experience working with children Ability to play or teach multiple instruments is a plus Experience teaching voice or strings is especially valuable Why Join Us? (We don't currently consider teachers who live outside of this area, as the commute isn't ideal in a driving job) A 7-year-old student is frustrated and wants to quit mid-lesson.
