Job Description

Job Summary Perry Co Central High School is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our music department as a full-time Band/Choir instructor. This position offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and educate students in the art of music, fostering a love for performance and collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in music education, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to creating an inclusive and engaging environment for all students. Responsibilities Develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum for band and choir classes that aligns with state standards. Conduct daily rehearsals, providing instruction in music theory, vocal techniques, instrumental performance, and ensemble dynamics. Organize and direct performances, including concerts, competitions, and community events, ensuring high-quality presentations. Collaborate with other faculty members to integrate music education into the broader school curriculum and promote interdisciplinary projects. Assess and evaluate student progress, providing constructive feedback and support to help students achieve their musical goals. Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages creativity, teamwork, and respect among students of diverse backgrounds. Maintain instruments and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition for student use. Engage with parents and the community to promote the music program and encourage student participation. Stay current with trends in music education and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Music Education or a related field; Master's degree preferred. Valid teaching certification in music education. Proven experience in teaching band and choir at the high school level. Strong proficiency in vocal and instrumental performance. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, parents, and faculty. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Passion for music and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment. Familiarity with technology and software used in music education and performance.
