Job Description

Elementary Music Teacher (Part-Time with Path to Full-Time)
Location:
Hampton Roads, VA Tolbert Music is seeking an outstanding music educator to join our growing team serving private and Catholic schools throughout Virginia. This position centers on teaching elementary general music during the school day at one of our partner schools. Depending on your background and interests, there are also opportunities to teach private lessons, director our unique Symphony program, and take on additional school partnerships as our organization continues to grow. Many of our teachers are satisfied with part-time, and many build full-time careers. Responsibilities Teach engaging elementary general music classes. Lead Mass services. This includes directing a student choir and strongly prefers someone with ability to play a chord-based instrument such as piano or guitar. Create a positive, organized classroom environment where students develop a lifelong love of music. Collaborate with school faculty and Tolbert Music staff. Communicate professionally with parents and school administrators. Prepare students for performances and school music events.
Additional opportunities may include:
Directing symphony programs. Teaching private music lessons. Expanding into additional partner schools based on availability and interest. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Music. Education emphasis preferred, but not required. Strong classroom management and communication skills. Passion for working with elementary-aged students. Reliable transportation. Teaching certification is welcome but not required. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching elementary general music. Experience directing instrumental ensembles. Ability to teach private lessons on one or more instruments. Piano proficiency for classroom instruction. Compensation & Benefits Competitive hourly compensation based on experience.
