Job Description

Music & Arts seeks a part-time Saxophone Teacher to provide private and small-group lessons in our retail store. You will teach saxophone technique, tone, reading music, and performance skills to beginners through intermediate students, following store and school curricula. Responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, setting learning goals, tracking student progress, communicating with parents, and supporting recitals or performances. You'll collaborate with store staff to promote lessons and maintain a positive, student-focused environment aligned with our mission to support music education and community engagement. Responsibilities Provide private and small-group saxophone lessons to students of varying ages and skill levels Develop lesson plans aligned with student goals and store curriculum Teach saxophone technique, tone production, music reading, and basic music theory Assess and track student progress, adjusting instruction as needed Communicate regularly with parents and students about goals, practice, and performance Prepare students for recitals, school performances, and auditions Maintain a professional, safe, and engaging lesson environment within the retail store Collaborate with store staff to promote lessons and support student enrollment Manage scheduling, attendance, and basic lesson documentation Support Music & Arts' mission of student-focused music education and community engagement Required Skills Saxophone performance Private music instruction Lesson planning Music theory fundamentals Sight-reading and notation Student assessment and progress tracking Classroom and behavior management Parent and student communication Time and schedule management Basic retail and customer service
