K-8 Vocal & Choral Music TeacherSchool Overview New Testament Christian Academy is is a small, vibrant Christian school dedicated to nurturing academic excellence and spiritual growth and maturity. Our school's mission statement is Proverbs 22:6 - Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he shall not depart from it. We strive to help students discover and develop their God-given talents to serve Christ and the community well. Position Summary We are seeking a passionate and talented K-8 Music Teacher with a strong background in vocal pedagogy and choral direction . The ideal candidate will cultivate a deep love for music and worship in elementary and middle school students. This role requires an educator who is highly proficient in piano or keyboard accompaniment and can comfortably introduce students to basic classroom instruments.
Spiritual & Professional Qualifications Christian Faith:
A committed follower of Jesus Christ who models a consistent Biblical lifestyle and fully agrees with our school's Statement of Faith.
Education:
A Bachelor's degree in Music Education , Vocal Performance, or a closely related field is required.
Certification:
Possession of, or eligibility for, a state teaching license or an Association of Christian Schools International ( ACSI ) certification.
Musical Skills:
High proficiency in piano/keyboard accompaniment is mandatory. Ability to play and teach basic rhythm or melody instruments (e.g., ukulele, recorder, percussion) is highly preferred. Essential Duties & Responsibilities 1. Choral & Vocal Instruction (Primary Focus) Develop and deliver an engaging K-8 vocal music curriculum that emphasizes proper singing techniques, pitch, and performance confidence. Audition, form, and direct elementary and middle school choirs or ensembles. Select age-appropriate, spiritually uplifting repertoire for school groups, incorporating both contemporary worship and classical choral traditions. 2. Instrumental & General Music Accompany student vocal groups and chapel worship teams on the piano or keyboard. Teach foundational instrumental skills to students using classroom instruments such as hand percussion, recorders, or ukuleles. Guide middle school students in basic music theory, sight-singing, and music history. 3. Performance & Worship Leadership Plan, rehearse, and direct major school music events, including the annual Christmas and Easter Services, Black History program, and graduation ceremonies. Partner with administration to mentor and coordinate student worship teams for weekly chapel services. 4. Classroom & Admin Duties Foster a Christ-centered, well-managed, and positive classroom learning environment. Maintain timely and accurate grading, evaluations, and regular parent communication.
Pay:
$45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per year
